What to do with the trapped dampness inside the double glazed window

The top window of our life has dampness trapped between two glasses from those really cold freezing days. It would have to be due to the compromised seal of the window.

But what shall we do now? Replacement is the only option? Photo is attached.

Yes I think replacing the pane is the only solution.

It cost us £150 to replace a pane on one of our windows. It was a fairly standard height and about a foot wide. They measure up then order the glass as there isn't really such a thing as standard glass sizes. Ours was done a week after we called.

Replacement is the only options. If the frames are OK, you can have just the sealed units done.

Persipan · 20/02/2023 18:15

Yeah, you just need a replacement sealed unit. Not terribly expensive generally and not a complex job to fit.

HyacinthineMacaw · 20/02/2023 18:16

I had to have one replaced recently and it was under £50. Done as part of some other work by our window fitter, so it might cost you more for labour too, but it’s a very quick job.

Thank you, everyone. I guess I will just have to get some quotes now.

Much appreciated.

It has blown. The only thing to do is replace it. It is pretty cheap, as others have said.

Daughter of a glazier who worked with him during uni holidays.
What is the window frame made from? Wood? UPVc? Is there plastic beading around the misted up unit?
If there is you should be able to pop out the beading and slot a new unit it.
Try independent glaziers rather than the big outfits as you can save considerable amounts of money.
