Floorboards

So I need new carpet in my bedroom. However, I have lots and lots of creaky floorboards. My issue is my carpet fitter wants all of the furniture out of the room before fitting the carpet and underlay. Should a carpet fitter be able to fix the floorboards or should I just order really thick underlay which might dull down the sound?

I think I've got uneven and some bits of broken floorboards under my bedroom carpet. I'm having the bedrooms, stairs, and landing carpet replaced in a few weeks. The guy that measured up said "We can direct you to carpenters that can fix these" and the idea is I move all the furniture out, lift the carpets, get the floorboards fixed, then wait for the new carpet to be fitted. I cannot be bothered, coupled with the effort of finding a tradesman and the cost at the moment.

I'm getting very thick underlay!

Just screw them down just be careful of pipe and wires underfloor

You’re mixing up different issues.

firstly yes, the room needs to be empty to fit the carpet.
]if you want the floorboards fixed. It isn’t the carpet fitters role, you need to hire a carpenter in advance.

Thanks all. My issue is what a previous poster has said. I'll need to remove furniture then carpet and get someone in to fix floorboards and then get carpet fitter in to lay the carpet. Which I cannot be bothered with. I'll get thick underlay if that will help the noise
