From house to apartment?

I am separated and want to move into a place of my own with DS5. My current options are limited but one possibility is an apartment. I love our garden though and would be gutted to leave it! Also, where on earth do people in apartments store bikes etc? Any insights from someone who has made the switch?

We used to store a bike in our bathroom and another on a bike wall Rack.
some apartments will have good storage because of the lack of garden.
one bonus is you will be Amazed at the difference in your energy bills!

Ohh interesting, that's a bonus about energy bills!

We moved from house to apartment. If there's a garage space, find out if bikes can be stored there. An outside space is a must - even a balcony, a place to sit and have some potted plants. Then parks for more energetic play time.

Living on one level is super, especially for things like midnight trips to the kitchen. It's a shame developers don't design more apartments for families. You wouldn't have to think twice in cities like New York or Paris.

Just thought, if no garage space - we had a visitor who brought his folding bike up to our apartment. Very compact and easy to store away. Kids' bikes not that big anyway

We’ve just moved into a flat from a house and we are loving the single storey living. It’s ground floor with a small private terrace and an area at the back of the kitchen that we use for bikes. It’s a rental until we buy somewhere but I’d be very happy to buy a flat providing there are no lease issues or high service charges. The tenants before us were here 6 years and had 2 children and loved it.

Depending on what kind of thing you're looking at, you may find that you have options for outside space and storage. I was in a maisonette converted from the top two floors of a Victorian house but also had a share of the (large) courtyard, and I had a whole big private bit of downstairs hallway, including the cupboard under the stairs, so I had lots of space for buggies (which was the stage we were at then).
