Valspar paints forget it!
Just purchased my 4th litre of matt interior paint. This is to apply my 6th coat to ensure a good job!!! Absolute rubbish paint. Rang them to complain about the poor coverage quality of their product and was fobbed off with "should have used a primer first" didnt the retailer tell you?!!! so in short it has cost me £80 to cover an area of 12 m2...... I was offered a voucher to buy more Valspar products which I politely declined. My advice do not touch Valspar products ....ever.

weve got valspar on our kitchen walls we put a thin watered down layer first then two layers of paint its vinyl silk and 20 months later still looks like it did when we painted it,

A painter friend told me to use Dulux heritage velvet matt formula and just get whatever colour I wanted mixed by the paint shop. It was more expensive than what I would usually buy but its brilliant, and washable!

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but I think a decent primer is worth it in the long run. I'm currently doing lots of painting and I've been using a coat of Dulux primer underneath as the last colour but one was a dark pink/purple and it is still showing through in places. The coloured paint has covered so much better and given a much better finish. It's also covered little cracks and areas where I've had to fill and sand. It almost looks like it's been airbrushed iyswim. Just using Homebase bog standard paint on top but only needed the two coats where I've previously needed to do 3+

My decorators really recommend using Valspar as it covers so well.

They thoroughly prep the walls first & then use Valspar trade. Can't fault the work they've done for us at all.

Did you use the trade version as apparently that is the best one?

I hate valspar too. I've got near on perfect walls and have needed a minimum of 3 coats with it. Its just thin and rubbish in my opinion. I like dulux easy care matt. Nice and flat looking but you can wash it. Goes on nicely and is easy to work with
Saying that we did my daughters room using the good home range from b and q only because she wanted a specific colour there and then and I have to say I was really impressed. Thought for the price it would be terrible but it was very good

Was it a brand new wall you were painting? I've just Valspar'd my bedroom and it went on fine.. no issues.
