Kitchen refurb - matching utility or cheaper version ok

Kitchen designer has suggested a cheaper range in a similar-ish style and colour for the utility versus the higher end main kitchen. It definitely doesn’t look as nice but saves about 3-4K.

I know it’s individual preference but anyone gone cheaper version for utility and regretted it? Does it bug you every time you open the door?

my preference would be to have them match (with the exception of laminate in utility v quartz in kitchen) but that’s quite a cost saving so not to be sniffed at…

any thoughts?

Our utility/wc is a long way from our kitchen and a totally different style. We used shaker style painted wood doors from B&Q and a laminate worktop from Wickes. The units are low budget but we splashed out on a Grohe freestanding toilet for the wc which I love!

Haven’t had a problem with the laminate worktops but we have a sink unit in the wc with the shaker doors and they have swelled up when wet (I have young kids that spill water everywhere). That’s the only disappointment.

If it’s an expensive luxury home I would expect a quality utility room, but in a standard mid-priced family home cheaper units and laminate would be fine.

Our utility is currently being built on the other side of the house to the kitchen so we are planning a completely different style - white slab doors with oak worktop whereas our kitchen is going to be dark green in frame shaker with white quartz (and wood effect LVT flooring) - elements will tie the two spaces together but our price points for kitchen and utility are vastly different. That way we can get all the styles we love in the house at least somewhere
