It's taken long enough!

No painted kitchen as I can't afford it, so Ikea Veddinge in white

Faced ply for the end panels, spacers and boxing in

Herringbone flooring

And I just foundbthese fab ply wood handles which I might be able to get in the faced ply!

Laminate worktop to a similar tone to the flooring

And I'm happy 😊

Ooh! That looks lovely and very individual whilst still being classic - really like it.

where will you get the faced ply end panels please? it’s never occurred to me to do that

Are the handles lacquered to stop them getting grubby?

GooseberryCinnamonYogurt · 08/02/2023 07:14

My thought is that they'll get dirty pretty quickly, so will need oiling or lacquering

KatyMac · 08/02/2023 07:35

The handles are lacquered

The faced ply is from a campervan shop!

It's just a sheet (2.4 x 1.2) but as I want to use the edging as a feature it will work well; just cut to size

I am wondering if I should run it between each cupboard

Is that a bad thing? Will it date horribly?

Mind you I remember beautiful wood herringbone in a Victorian house I lived in during the 80 so I guess it pretty classic

I don’t think so. Like you say, it’s not a new thing, just a current trend so I don’t think it’ll date. Unless you’re bothered about keeping up with trends, it’ll look lovely for many years. The only ones changing it soon will be the ones who change their homes to keep up with trends and don’t just decorate to their own tastes in the first place.

I am totally not a fashion/trend follower - tbh that is evident by my kitchen choices I think!

I was using gray (well Dulux Egyptian cotton) from long before it was even thought of! It's just a colour that calms me....no idea where this green came from....the kitchenbis not a calm room!!
