IKEA Pax Hax - potential issues?

I really want a fitted wardrobe for my bedroom, and am thinking about having an Ikea pax boxed into one of the walls to give that effect. Has anybody done this and had issues? Namely strength of the wardrobe or mould issues?

I'm very paranoid about mould as we had it on the exterior walls in another room. The wall I want to put the pax onto is interior and in a warmerroom more central in the house, so not sure that would still be an issue. Any thoughts?

we had that. all worked out fine. strength is great because pax are well made.

We moved into a house where ikea units had been permanently glued to the walls. One unit was a tall billy bookcase, the chipboard at the back was warped so I needed to remove it. I messed up the wall in the process! I’m not sure what the pax is like, just make sure it’s solid enough to last or you’ll be pulling it out again

It's surprising how good quality some IKEA stuff is!

I'll definitely not be glueing the backs + it sounds like an unusual choice tbh from the past owners!

We’ve done similar with no issues at all. We’ve also moved our pax 7/8 times in the 9 years we’ve owned it. It is getting gradually less sturdy each time we reassemble it, but still has loads of life left in it.

I have a run of PAX in the utility room and they house a washer, dryer and freezer with no mould issues.

I was going to say nooooooo until i read that it was an interior wall. The previous owners of our house did this on an exterior wall, caused mould all behind the wardrobe, they boxed in the gap at the top so you lost all space to store eg suitcases on top of the wardrobe etc. We had to have the whole wall replastered when we ripped them out. If it is all fully internal you might be fine but i def would not recommend if any of it touches an outside wall.
