Looking at moving to somewhere village in Worcestershire

No need to be near schools.

Houses look decent in Bournheath on Rightmove. Have a reasonable budget.

Anyone have any knowledge about Bournheath?

You probably haven't got many replies because it's tiny. I asked my wife is from that area who said it was very small and quiet and she thinks it comes under Birmingham. They have a village community centre page on Facebook although not a lot on there. It's also near merry hill which is a big shopping mall area which is a lot more down to earth.Although I think there are some rumours it might close. So quiet and not tons there but no big asb or anything. Nicer villages in Worcestershire but you pay for that

I agree with above. The area around Bromsgrove is absolutely fine. Not particularly exciting, basically an extension of Birmingham. It’s not really somewhere you would move to, if you know what I mean. I would be surprised if you got an answer from someone in Bournheath because it’s really small. Could you go further into Worcestershire to somewhere nicer?

I grew up very locally. It’s a nice quiet area

Bournheath is basically a hamlet, it’s fine but nothing much there. Do you need state or private schools? Bromsgrove has 2 high schools - South is generally seen as the naice one rather than north. Going more west would give you Chaddesley/Belbroughton options which are both lovely villages.

Hollyhead · 04/02/2023 22:27

Sorry I just reread and saw that schools not an issue. What DO you need to be near?

The gate pub is nice and does good food. Close enough to shops etc depends what you’re looking for really

Bournheath is fine. It's a small place but with 3 decent pubs! Nice community, some decent walks, quiet and trouble free as far as I know. It comes under Worcestershire and is 10 miles from Merry Hill. The nearest town, Bromsgrove, is a bit of a one horse town these days.

I grew up in a village near there, where family still live and frequent the Bournheath pubs 😄 (particularly the Nailers. DH prefers the New Inn). I also have a good friend there so happy to answer questions.

I'm not good with geography over there but randomly I stayed in Honeybourne? Which had a direct rail link to London.

Honeybourne is nice, but at least 25 miles from Bournheath! 😄

Looking for somewhere safe, quiet, green with a few community activities to get involved in.

We lived in Bournheath a few years ago, it is a lovely little village with a couple of good pubs and friendly people (many over 50s). I would say it is very quiet, there is no village shop for example and not a huge amount going on at the Village Hall. That part of North Worcestershire is full of lovely villages though, you could also look at Chaddesley Corbett, Clent, Cutnall Green, or or even up to Wolverley (towards Kidderminster) for other options. I'd recommend spending a few days visiting the area and getting a feel for the place but generally it is a beautiful part of the world, feels like the heart of the countryside but still close enough to Birmingham that amenities are never too far away. Good luck with your search x

Thanks fairycakesarefr33. Will take your advice and go visiting those villages
