Changing a toilet pan

Hi everyone, bathroom renovation from hell continues though at least the bathroom now drains!

The toilet installed is a back to wall, hidden cistern, rimless wc, which has the least wffective flush ever - because there's no water pushed from the front you have to hold the button down for ages to clear even single sheets of toilet paper. It is also the wrong colour (!)

I don't want to deal with this company any more, they have caused nothing but stress.

I have a nice plumber who has come to my rescue over the last few weeks but don't want to bother him with this query until I know what I'm asking!

Does anyone know please:

-Are cisterns/connections fairly interchangeable across brands?
-Can the toilet pan itself be easily?
-If I can find a new back to wall pan that is not rimless, can I switch the 2?

Have to get make and model of the loo and cistern first from the hopeless shop, but trying to think out of the box to get this resolved. Company claiming none of their manufacturers make toilets that are same colour as rest of the bathroom 🫠

hmm, I think the main difference is that some toilet are 'close coupled' meaning the pan connects directly to the cistern and others have a plastic pipe from cistern to pan. the latter should be easy to change because any pan will fit the pipe. the former are harder.

We had similar questions when refitting our downstairs cloakroom. We managed to fit the basin ourselves but called a plumber in for the toilet, he advised on what we needed, fitted it all and charged less than £100.

Ahhh thank you have asked for details from the bathroom company so will have the exact details to work that put hopefully!

Thank you, that gives me hope! I'm willing to spend money on it to get it how I want, but having just spent £££s with the useless bathroom company, 100 + loo sounds manageable!
