Have I messed up the order of doing my kitchen!?

Just reading another thread and it's got me thinking ...

I'm in the middle of building work - knocking down walls to create bigger kitchen - fitting should start in about a fortnight. The flooring a really want is karndean and v expensive - it's one of the patterned ones not the wood effect - so my plan was to keep saving and get it fitted in probably about 6 months rather than compromise to something I don't love.
Is this wrong and will spoil the look because I'm not getting the flooring done first!?

No I believe the flooring would be the last thing to be laid.

It depends. Some flooring looks better underneath cabinets as it can be difficult to get a perfect edge up against end panels or an island.

You will need the floor to be levelled. We are doing our kitchen next month, the kitchen will be ripped out, old flooring removed, floor levelled, kitchen then fitted (witht the plinths left off) then flooing will be laid and then kitchen fitters will come back and fit the plinths.

as 123sunshine says. If it's already levelled then it doesn't really matter, you can refit the plinths.

I had my kitchen fitted after the floor was laid, the joiner said it gives a better finish. However if you remove your plinths and your flooring runs under your cabinets I can’t see what the difference would be.

How does it work under the legs of units? Is the flooring just cut around them? I think you need to be careful is you have any free standing appliances as dragging them out for replacement may damage the floor.

We had flooring fitting first and, while it's fine for now, I do wonder how we would ever replace it.

Flooring should be the last thing imo. Some prefer flooring first, and with some floors can see you might get a neater finish, but if anything then happens to the floor, or you want to change it you have to remove the kitchen, this can damage worktops tiles etc...
