Aircon in Loft conversion?

We live in a small victorian terrace and are in the final stages of a dormer loft conversion. The scaffolding is still up so we're weighing up installing Aircon.

Where exactly would the outside fan unit go? Under the rear window?

I can't find any pictures at all of outside installs.

That’s what we assumed when we started planning our upcoming loft conversion. We asked our contractor about it, but he said that he doesn’t recommend them over a portable unit that you can stash out of the way in your eaves storage for the 48 weeks of the year that you don’t need it. So we’re going with that. I don’t have first-hand experience myself, though, so I’m hoping he’s right!

Assuming you’re in the UK, I wouldn’t bother. Focus on high spec insulation. You could use a fan or portable unit for the few scorching weeks of the year when needed.

We have just finished a loft conversion but frankly cant afford to put aircon in right now. We were told ours could go on the side of the dormer, so we had an electrical point put in now and will hopefully install one next year when we've replenished our savings a bit.

We put did our loft this summer and had aircon installed during the build. I hate heat so for me, it was a must. Our unit sits on the flat roof of the kitchen at the back. As well as 2 loft rooms, we also had it installed in one of the original bedrooms as the insulation is awful in there so it's either cold in winter or boiling in summer. All the rooms are linked to the 1 unit.

@AnotherNC22 are you In a terrace also? if it's on the side of the dormer how far will it be from the neighbour?

@ChungusBoi it's up to the newest building regs so I'm worried it'll be boiling the whole of spring and summer when we need to work up there. Difference in price is not huge vs a good portable unit. Just a bit worried it will look horrendous lol

We have an alley for access between us and the neighbour so it will be quite far i think from our neighbour.
