Hot water tank queries

Please help a hopeless mum trying to buy her first place! I don't have any 'DIY' types close to ask.

Have just seen a place I like but am thrown by this hot water tank system. Have only lived in places with combi boilers.

Are these old fashioned? Or a big no-go?
How does it work, do I have to do something to it?

Any help appreciated. Thank you

That's a modern pressurised hot water cylinder. We have one. They are great. Stays hot for ages and the water pressure for your shower should be good. I think the boiler will just be a normal combi boiler so if you use all the water in the tank it will just heat on demand.

Thank you. I probably seem really dense but I've just never seen one, thought it might be old fashioned rather than futuristic 😂
Would it use much more gas compared to the normal combi boiler I'm used too?
And is it common enough that most general plumbers know what to do if there is an issue?

It won't be a combi, it will be a system boiler. This set up is really common, especially in a larger house where demand will be higher.

General plumbers will see these often!

We have just installed one of these. Unvented hot water tank with a system boiler.

We did discuss our future plans with our plumber and he recommended this setup for the two bathrooms, 3 toilets, etc. We have never been able to empty the tank even when we all washed at the same time.

system boiler + hot water tank. Quite normal as combi not necessarily what suits all domestic demand. Google the model number of the tank and boiler and get an idea of the energy rating A+ or otherwise etc etc. So long as it is somewhere in the region of modern standards I wouldn't worry about this, it's not odd.
