FTB nerves

FTB here. Our offer on a house we liked was accepted. We are a few weeks post offer now and we are not really feeling 100% happy and lots of doubts are creeping in. Particularly, regarding the location of the house. At the same time, I am not sure we will find/afford anything better. Is it normal to feel like this? How do you move past it? Or should we just pull out?

Yes, I think it’s absolutely normal - or it was for me at least! It’s the biggest purchase of your life so of course you want to make sure it’s the right decision. I’ll confess that I still have moments where I wonder if I did the right thing, particularly when I find out big jobs need doing (reroof, new boiler) or I’m feeling overwhelmed with how much needs doing but overall, I love my house and living here so it was the right decision.

Could you arrange another viewing? Hopefully it will remind you of why you liked it? Could you spend some time in the area getting to know it a little better?

It's notmal. We stalked the location to ensure ot was fine. I am sure there must have been posts about us on some local chats😂

It's a massive purchase, it's totally ok to be nervous and thinking about every detail.

Really normal and we're on our third purchase Wink. It's a huge amount of money, almost everyone has to make a compromise somewhere when buying and it's very common to have wobbles a few weeks in.

Did you have a list of things you wanted in a house? I found it helpful to go back to that, remind myself of all the good points and why I'd wanted it.

Good luck!

Absolutely normal and not just for FTBs. Yes, take another look. Nothing is ever absolutely perfect. Good luck
