Heave when tree is removed

What type of professional do I need to advise on the likelihood of heave if a tree is removed? The tree is a nightmare neighbour’s garden and is very close to my property.

I would start with a proper tree surgeon.

(I believe Shakespeare famously said "A chain saw doth not a Tree Surgeon make. "

Depending on the tree I think it might be first reduced in size then removed completely a little later. (but what do I know I haven't even got a chain saw!)

Is the neighbour removing the tree, or are you planning to ask them to?

If they are removing the tree and you are concerned about its effect, I would contact a surveyor for a structural survey to ascertain the current state of your property.

If any damage results from the removal of the tree, it would be useful when making a claim against them.

I think it depends on your soil/subsoil. Clay is the worst

Also depends on if your house was there before the tree or not. I would speak to a tree surgeon
