Semi detached garage

I wasn't sure what to call this. Has anyone got/had a property where your garage is attached to your neighbours with a shared roof? Also the drive isn't a shared drive but there's no physical separation between them.

How does this work in terms of maintenance etc. Am I just going to be on AIBU drawing parking dispute diagrams?

The drive to the property I'm considering viewing is on the right, the drive looks narrow.

Had a driveway & garage like this for 31-years.

The only time the garage gave any problems with regards to maintenance was when it needed re-roofing.
The neighbouring property was rented and the LL did not want to pay out so we had our own half done (which was slightly over half the cost of having it all done).
The ironic thing was that a few years later the LL had their side done and apart from the increased cost, the quality of the finished job was not a patch on ours.

The driveway itself was not an issue most of the time.
It was 4-cars long and you just made sure you parked far enough over so anyone parked adjacent coup open their door ok.

The roof would have the same issues as a semi detached or terraced house? And you could mark out the driveway or put barriers between if there were major issues.

Is access to the driveways in a straight line?

It's not a straight line, we'd need to park two cars, I imagine the neighbour would usually cut across to get out and may find us parking two cars on the drive irritating. There's a third property on this corner also using the same bit of road to get in and out.

I'm used to my own double width driveway so shared driveways concern me. We're looking at bungalows and they're often fine for one car but harder to accommodate two or three for a family.

You can see better on google earth, the property I'm looking at is on the right, the second garage belongs to the property in the top left, the property bottom is also potentially an issue.

We need a good parking situation for the same reasons we need a bungalow.

I've queried whether the grassed area in front of the property is part of the property or whether it's a grass verge. I don't think it's just over grown as there are similar features around the development.

I'm not keen on being on a corner, but the property itself is ideal in size and layout.

Is it shared driveway? What's in your deeds?
Mine is like this but we own the drive and NDN only has access rights to cross over, not park unless in the garage. However our deeds say NDN has to pay 50% upkeep - stupid but at least it's our property as it's enough to park 4 cars on

Just realised you do t own it!
You need to check this out and get it in writing then check with your solicitor too

I'll ask the estate agent, I wouldn't want to get into solicitors fees if it's a non starter.

I'm assuming it's not a shared drive because it looks like they've been resurfaced separately at some point.

Would you fit two cars without parking on the pavement?

We'd need to go with both cars and try it for size I think, we also need plenty of room for getting out, the passenger door needs to be able to open fully.

I think this is just not going to be a good fit, which is a shame because the actual bungalow is perfect.
