Sink in kitchen peninsula, yes or no?

I am trying to plan the renovation of our kitchen/breakfast room. It's a big room, but because of the many architectural features (three doors, two windows, a fireplace) it's a bit limited in terms of layout options.

I'm currently looking at a peninsula layout, so a strip of units across the back wall of the kitchen to include fridge and oven, and then a peninsula opposite with dishwasher and sink.

Are sinks in peninsulas annoying? Do you just end up with all the dirty pots/plates sitting in a very visible space in the middle of the room? Does the water/mess from the sink get everywhere?

We are quite heavy kitchen users, we cook from scratch most days so generate a fair bit of washing up!

I could switch it round to have the oven in the peninsula but that would mean (I think) getting rid of the nice (and £££) electric Aga that came with the house and which I would ideally include in the design.

Hello. We have this design and it's brilliant. Best layout I've ever had. Make the peninsular as deep as you can as it makes it much more useful.

Sink in peninsula definitely. Along with the dishwasher obviously. If you have a double sink rather than a draining board you can use one sink to wash up in and the other sink to drain in. It means it always looks tidy

Oh great thank you.
Amazing tip about draining in double sink, thank you! I'm not sure if we'll have the width for 2 x sinks and dishwasher without extending too far into the room but I will bear that in mind as the goal!

No, it'll look weird

Yeah we did although ours is more like an island with a pillar for holding the upstairs up.
The island is 1m deep and the dishwasher is also there. Yes it ends up covered in dishes but that's what kitchens are for right?
One tip would be that we made it a single bowl sink which is inset rather than on top. That makes it a lot less obtrusive.
Then we put a small round sink by the hob for draining pans and filling the kettle. It was supposed to be a bit of a compromise but it's amazingly easy to fill the kettle especially, so I'd actually do it in a layout that didn't need it.
