recirculating fans

We're soon to be starting on an extension project for a kitchen/dining/living space. The cooker is going to be on an interior wall (no other place for it to go)
Can anyone recommend a decent recirculating cooker hood/extraction fan for steam/odours? The extension roof will be >2m away so can't really get it to go outside without loads of ducting :(

Duct along top of cupboards if there are any that stretch to outside wall or build duct into wall and plaster over?

Is there really no way you can duct it?

When we redesigned the kitchen in our old house the oven / hob ended up in the middle of the building.
We knew the recirculating / filter type were no good (one existed when we moved in which OH immediately changed for a vented one) so he installed duct above the kitchen ceiling.
A bit of work at the time but it worked perfectly.

There's two options for placement of the cooker-one is on the far wall so ducting it would be 6m+ if we went around the edges of the room, the other is on an interior wall around 2m from where the new extension roof would be. We might be able to get them to duct along the wall above cupboards for that, it would have to go through the ceiling rather than a wall though?

Can you recommend a good extractor-it needs to be a chimney-ish style one to go over a range cooker.

Or could we just stick a ceiling extractor not over the hob? I've never had much luck with either bathroom extractor or overcooker extractors actually doing much "extracting" though-even when it's a straight hole out the wall?!

We’ve got a recirculating fan as ducting was impossible for us. (Same issue as yours) We’ve got an Elica Reef-A-90. It can be ducted or recirculating. It’s ok, not brilliant but it’s not awful either. It’s very good at extracting vapour and smells but it’s a little bit noisy. Though much quieter than our previous fan! (to be fair, it was 20 years old)

A recirculating hood is an expensive ornament. It does not remove water vapour from the kitchen. It does not create suction to prevent odours diffusing through the house.
