I can’t find a dehumidifier anywhere for the last few months, they are all out of stock. Does anyone know where I could find one? I could really use one ASAP to help.

This thread is a bit old now, but if you've landed here looking for recommendations, we've recently updated our best dehumidifiers round-up, full of products tried, tested and recommended by Mumsnet users.
We hope you will find this useful.

There are loads available on Amazon, some for delivery today.

I’ve checked John Lewis it says they are all out of stock. I’ll check the others now, thanks!

Just to clarify I meant the big ones that you plug in, not the little disposable ones.

Yes, I saw loads of them on Amazon a minute ago when I just checked.

I went direct to Meaco - they have some in stock, and new stock arriving January.... a bit more expensive to go direct I suppose, but I prefer buying direct from suppliers.

thesugarbumfairy · 20/01/2023 10:35

I bought one a couple of weeks ago from sunbelt sales

Gufo · 20/01/2023 10:35

I got a meaco one from argos last week - they had been OOS for weeks before then

Buy a second hand one. I got a Meaco one from FB marketplace for £30 and it works like a dream.

Choconut · 20/01/2023 11:09

I bought a Meaco one direct from them recently. It's 12L but what I didn't realise was that it works best at 30 degrees, at 26 degrees it's already working far less well - and at the 18 degrees of your average house you'll get more like 2 litres in 24 hours, not 12 and that's if the humidity is high. At 16 it seems to go into some sort of chill mode and at that point I'm guessing it's probably almost completely pointless.

If my house was 30 degrees I wouldn't need a flipping dehumidifier. It cost a lot and I wouldn't buy another. Open the windows for a bit instead would be my advice.

I'm surprised by that. DD has one in her uni flat, which never gets above 17c and when she first put it on, she was emptying it several times a day! it's really done an excellent job for them.

Found one direct!!!! I had put myself on the mailing list to notify me when it came back in stock but I must have missed the email. Thanks everyone

The condenser ones need you to have a warm house to be effective. Desiccant ones don’t And chuck out loads of heat which is a bonus!

Liljodz · 20/01/2023 22:31

Heyy, where have you found one please

Xrays · 20/01/2023 22:35

We got ours from ao.com they do go out of stock quickly though!

Jellybean23 · 20/01/2023 22:47

There are two types of dehumidifier - desiccant and refrigerant. The desiccant type work at low temperatures. The refrigerant kind don't work well at temps below 15℃.

The mini one in our coat cupboard was covered in frost when I checked it yesterday!
