Hi,

1930s semi on a main road.

We are looking to replace two old PVC double glazing bay windows (5 casement windows each) - lots of heat loss, let’s in too much noise to the point I struggle to sleep and the lounge is noisy.

Ideally timber and triple glazed or at least double with some additional sound reduction.

Anglian quoted at £14,000 which seems ridiculous.

Has anyone had similar work done recently at a reasonable price that I can benchmark against?

Thanks

I've got a funny story about Anglian. The salesmen used to go door to door.

My parents had Anglian windows and patio door and they were having issues with the warranty. Mum invited him in and started by asking about the warranty....she got the salesmens spiel and let him carry on until he had finished.

Good, she said, then take a look at this....showed him the problem.....he was just about to say if that was ours we would.cover it and the penny dropped!!! To be fair he took it well and the repair was completed quite soon after!

I had the same sticker shock with big-name quotes and ended up switching to aluminum frames to keep costs down without losing quality. Check out https://www.hugh-aluminum.com/aluminum-windows-frames — they do a wide range and were much more reasonable. I also liked that they gave a quick turnaround and didn’t pressure me with upselling. Worth asking them for a quote just to compare.

You need a local company to be recommended to you. Bay windows are expensive as is wood. I haven't got bays but I had a room length french doors and windows, 1 very large window and 2 smaller ones for £6k with a local firm
