Awaiting final acceptance of offer from divorcing sellers

As a first time buyer, seeking advice from those with experience. We have put an offer in on a house whose sellers are divorcing; the agent has been very communicative (daily updates) but one of the sellers is currently abroad which has held things up in terms of final feedback (three days so far). The other seller agreed immediately and is very keen to move, so have just been waiting on their ex’s confirmation. We have now been told that they agree to our offer as well, but that the two parties need to be in touch with the agents together (or something else suitably vague? I was in a hurry and couldn’t probe further on the phone) before it can be officially taken off the market as sstc. The agency said they have cancelled further viewings already however. Does this sound legit or are we being strung along a bit here? I’ve set a deadline for the offer anyway (I told the agent this) and am lining up other viewings in case. Thanks

It may be to formally prove their identity before they can do the sale sheet with both your solicitors on. Indeed it may even be that they need to jointly instruct solicitors to handle the sale of the house.
I doubt it's anything to worry about

Thank you, that makes sense. Fingers crossed it comes through in the next days.

We bought from divorcing sellers last year and several times they both had to instruct solicitors or speak to the estate agent on various matters because they both owned the house. They weren't on speaking terms and the ex-husband kept going on holiday which delayed things a bit for us but even then we did manage to complete in about 3 months. Good luck!

Thank you! 3 months is great, even more so considering they weren’t speaking 😂I’ve been worried about the possibility of getting bogged down in an acrimonious split (not that we know it is necessarily), but we love the house and really hope it goes through. Having a bit more understanding of the process is reassuring!
