Shower behind bath - any disadvantages?

Like the attached photo.

We have a long, narrow bit of roof space and we’re thinking of installing a bathroom. Initially thought we could either have just a shower or shower over bath but what about a shower behind the bath? Bath will be for occasional use but would be very nice to have.
A shower extending the length of the bath (170 x 100 cm) would we be a lovely size and would be used daily.

Have a look at omnitubs they are short deep baths. That might work side by side for you. I really fancy one but it didn't work with our bathroom.

I would definitely go for a separate shower if you can fit it in, climbing in and out of a bath to shower is dangerous even for youngish people, or you have to compromise your 'sanctuary feel' with ugly things like bath handles and knobbly non slip rubber bath mats.

Think the first picture looks fab; great use of space - I’d go for it & think one screen is enough; so what if bath gets a bit splashed? Don’t see the big deal!

We did this, but with a freestanding bath. We fully tanked the floor area and 1.2 meters up the wall, so it was completely waterproof. The bath didn't really get splashed with a rain head shower, and it was easy to clean with the detachable shower hose thing. We put a heated towel rail on the wall at the back of the shower, so it was always lovely and warm and could reach towels easily.

This is my preferred way of doing a bathroom now, trying to figure it out on my new property. Hate climbing into baths to shower. Then having to properly clean them just before having an actual bath.

One thing to hear in mind is because you have all of the elbow room above the bath etc, you can allow a smaller width for the shower (if space is tight). So you can afford to go a bit smaller. Also, you need less space in the rest of the bathroom to dry yourself off, as you have plenty of space at the end of the shower. We didn't realise this and could have done more in our last bathroom as a result

Thanks everyone for the positive and negative comments and top tops - all very useful. In my mind, the positives outweigh the negatives.
We are planning to tank the bathroom up to its eyeballs.
Excellent point re: extra elbow room over bath and having plenty of space to dry off within the shower area. I will rethink my measurements in light of that.
We will definitely have an extra long shower screen, the shower will extend to about 190cm from wall-to-wall so should be able to get a decent length screen and have ample space to get in and out.

Going for something similar but a with a Japanese bath, small bathroom for two people only. I'm a bath person OH is a showerer.

I think it looks great and I have stayed in similar bathrooms in hotels. I like it as I enjoy a lazy soak in bath but like to wash hair in shower. So it would be perfect for me!

Hi, may I ask if you completed your bathroom project? I'd like to do exactly the same in my bathroom and wonder if there are any issues, regrets, advice. I'm particularly worried about getting the bathtub dirty every time I shower.
