I need a need dehumidifier for a cold house. The zambesi has lots of functions especially the timer. However I don't know if it will last considering how expensive it is. I see some reviews say its good, some say it stops after warranty. Help please as the house is victorian with little insulation. I would need a dehumidifier that can really pull the water out. Also do you know how much it costs to run per hour in the UK?

I have the dd8l, I didn’t opt for the zambezi, as didn’t want to pay extra just for a digital display. It is really good, it sucks up a lot of water, no idea where it all comes from, as we have never had any damp or mould issues. I also hardly ever get any condensation on the windows now. The laundry mode also works out cheaper than the tumble dryer, and is very good at drying the washing.

Difficult to say how much it will cost you to run, we run it at night, as we have a cheaper night rate. You can use this website to give you an approx hourly cost based on your current rate. www.sust-it.net/energy-calculator.php?fu=49&cu=uk

Meaco Zambezi is a desiccant dehumidifier so will probably cost more to run (since it has a heat source to dry out the desiccant). I did a recent comparison of dehumidifiers looking at reviews, outlay cost, cost to run etc. and opted for the Meaco Arete.

Yes desiccant are more expensive to run. My house is a cold house so the other type would not be effective.

@snowflakeinastorm apparently the Zambezi has a timer function too and child lock which the other does not have. Last I checked on those sites it was almost 1.50 for a couple of hours

The arete works down to 5 degrees apparently and can be used in garages etc too.

I've just got the 20l one and am also amazed how much water is accumulating. My house wasn't noticeably damp either. I have it on the landing to dehumidify the whole house (all internal doors open, windows shut) or stick it in a room with the door shut on laundry mode for washing. I use the water for my house plants and in my iron. I also like the fact it has a hepa filter and I can just use the function alone, helpful in the summer when no need to dehumidify.

Only had it for a week or so though so can't advise on it's longevity.
