Kitchen/Bathroom Issues

Hello Parents!

I'm looking for issues in and around your kitchens or bathrooms that you can't seem to find solutions to? This could involve space, accessibility or waste and energy consumption. This is only for a school project so there are no dumb ideas! Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated and ill be sure to follow up on how I get along.

Sincerely a proud new mumsnet user,

Murray

Silent kitchen & bathroom extraction fans. This was the hurdle I fell at. I have heard you could have the mechanics located far away but the suction right where you need it but I never found out how to do it.

Just re-read the OP so perhaps my idea isn't right. I'll leave it here anyway.

Thank you very much, this is a great idea and I'll definitely have a look into it to see what can be done to reduce noise!

Recently replaced our bathroom sink taps. Could not find taps with long enough spouts, so that they reached into the basin. They are all so short that you bang your knuckles on the side of our (admittedly) large sink.
Also a ceiling fan/light combo that allows you to switch the fan on separately OR together with the main light would be lovely. Not totally separate light / fan switches.
For the kitchen I would like an over head light system that could be directed on a flexible connector a bit like an angle poise lamp/operating theatre light? Tiny kitchen and not the space to have lots of spot lights!

Great idea! I'll have a look into it and keep you updated on how it goes!

Our bathroom issue is bath toy storage - we have one of these type of nets:
www.amazon.co.uk/Organiser-LauCentral-Toddlers-Learning-Adhesive/dp/B09YGKRBF8
which is good as they can drip-dry into the bath.

But they still look really unsightly! When guests are coming I'd like to actually shut them away somewhere. Sadly I didn't factor this massive pile of plastic gizmos into the storage in the bathroom, which is already full of toiletries and loo rolls.

The kids love a bedtime bath with lots of toys but they are a real eyesore in my otherwise very beautiful bathroom!

Thanks for the response, this is a great problem, there's also the matter of drying the toys to be considered!

Thanks for all the responses so far! I'm beginning to consider more specifically chopping and prep of raw vegetables and meats specifically. What challenges do you commonly face or your best solutions for organizing off cuts, ensuring safety whilst preparing foods as well as perhaps cutting more awkwardly shaped foods?

Thanks for your input!
Murray

Sharp knives and several of them plus several chopping boards. Sink of hot soapy water to was as you go. Job done.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 18/01/2023 17:40

Wash not was.

Somewhere to put bins out of sight, but ensuring they are also very easily accessible. And two bins please ..refuse and recycling.

Somewhere to feed the cat without tripping over them!

Ceiling space for a good big Sheila Maid.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 18/01/2023 17:56

@FuzzyPuffling I bought stacking bins just for this! Game changer.
