Changing door handle to a knob. What do I need?

We currently have standard push down lever door handles, I want to change them to a reeded door knob. I’m fed up of catching my clothes on them and banging my arms. They are the usual type that comes back up on their own, with a little wedge ish shaped locking bit. Sorry it’s not very technical😬.
So… what do I need to buy? I like the chrome or nickel reeded round knobs, but sprung ? Unsprung? Rim lock or mortice? Do I have to buy latch kits? Do I have to get a particular size, some say 3 or 4 inch something but I don’t know what it means really.
All help appreciated 😊

Looking at the photo, will the knob need to be lower so you don’t overlap off the thick bit of door?
If so the whole latch needs moving down which will not look great, where it is filled.

I think this is the case, I think it will need to be moved entirely. It will need to be lower than it is now. I'm wondering if this is why the joiner talked her out of it?

Is there room to fit the handle upside down? I know someone who found that helpful.

There must be a solution!

You need different latches ( as stated above) they need to be longer so you can get your hand around the knob. Looks like your handles are in the wrong place for longer latches. I have seen someone turn the handles upside down before to stop them being opened by small children, you pull it upwards to open instead of down .

The joiner talked me out if it because of personal preference. He installed the current handles etc at a height in inches he said was best practice for them to be at. I purposely chose round roses rather than a long backplate so it wouldn’t leave messy holes in the wrong place if I wanted to change to a knob. We allowed ourselves to be talked out of it because we hoped in time our daughter would manage the door handle and it would give her independence but they’re actually a pain as she constantly is playing with them and it’s dangerous, plus I can’t keep track of her as easily. The rest of constantly catch ourselves on them too .
Thanks for all the input. Will the knobs I linked to work or not? Sprung or unsprung and why do I have to change the latch? Can I just put a new knob on and see if it works ? This is turning into a bigger headache than I need😬
