Lead paint - would this put you off buying a house? Photos attached

So me and DH are in the process of buying a house. Level 2 rics survey has come back saying that due to the age of the house (1935) there’s a chance there could be lead paint used if any of the original paint is still in the house.

I am a bit clueless to this tbh. I’ve attached a photo of what I think could be original paintwork? (The brown bannister and doors etc). Is this what he means? And if so, would this put you off at all? I have 2 little boys.

Appreciate anyone’s input

Surely this is just a standard statement for any house of a certain age.

Surely that paint is less than 90 years old? It’s kept remarkably well if not! I imagine if there’s any lead paint it’s been painted over at least 9 times by now.

It means there might be a layer of lead paint beneath layers of newer paint. Only a problem if you plan to sand back, when you'd need to take extra precautions. It's common with older houses, not a big problem at all.

That’s a standard statement for any house built in the 1960s or earlier. The house will have been repainted since then so it’s sealed away. It’s only if you are sanding back old paint yourself that you will need to take extra precautions but it’s nothing terrifying. And obviously just a photo so can’t be sure but your doors look like varnish/wood stain and not paint.

Ah right that makes sense thank you guys! See I am so clueless when it comes to this stuff!!

Nahhh definitely wouldn't put me off. They have to say this to cover their backs. And even if it does have lead, you just take sensible precautions when sanding.

No, wouldn't put me off at all. Sort of goes with the territory of an old house.
