Getting a cleaner / expectations

Hi

I’m thinking of getting a cleaner. I have MH problems and ADHD and work 60 hours a week and cannot cope at the moment. I live in a 2 bed flat. (1 bathroom, lounge, kitchen and hallway)

I’ve requested an initial ‘deep clean’ but the main duties I’d want and really struggle with are hoovering and mopping the whole flat, so would want that done every time. I’m hoping to have it done every 2 weeks.

What could I expect (after the initial deep clean) from 2 hours cleaning every 2 weeks.

thanks

Usual dusting, hoovering, moping floors, cleaning the bathroom x

And the kitchen.

I would also ask for one deep clean job a fortnight to be done so that you can stay on top of that too (eg clean out a cupboard, or clean under one bed). Otherwise those jobs very quickly mount up.

My cleaner also changes the sheets.

You obviously have to pay for enough hours so they have time to do this.

In two hours for a small flat, then a good cleaner will get bathroom done, kitchen surfaces/ sinks clean, floors mopped and vacuumed, dusting around the whole flat, mirrors and internal windows polished.

This holds true as long as you keep it clutter free (so, surfaces clear, don’t have loads of bottles and stuff in the bathroom, floor tidy etc)

also assuming your cleaner has access to good supplies (decent vacuum cleaner, a long handled duster, plenty of reusable cleaning cloths etc).

I’m sorry that’s been your experience, it’s never acceptable for a client to be abusive.

I’m like OP - ADHD and mental health issues (anxiety), work really long hours and thinking about getting a cleaner. The suggestion that would need to be a specialist service because some cleaners wouldn’t consider my custom due to my disabilities is pretty upsetting to read.

Plenty of disabled people don’t need special handling or home care, they just need their mucky floors mopped and some dusting done! My oven lady has come for a few years now and we’ve happily got along, I don’t think I’ve ever even told her I’ve got ADHD because it never seemed relevant.

Could you be any more ill informed? ADHD is not a mental health issue. Endless abuse? Really? As if we are all the exact same type of person? I’ve had the same cleaner for a decade, I have ADHD and PTSD and I’m immunocompromised. I wouldn’t even come 10% of the way to meeting threshold for community care, ffs.

How do you even know your clients had MH issues? Maybe they were just assholes.

PopUpMoon · 05/01/2023 01:16

Oh and that service is for, you know, CARE, not cleaning.

@dodocnk what a disgusting post. Incredibly ignorant on numerous levels. It would be laughable if it wasn't so mean-minded.

Tessisme · 05/01/2023 01:32

Bloody hell @dodocnk. You couldn't display any more ignorance and prejudice if you tried.
