Is it normal to feel this way?

Our sellers on this house accepted our offer in mid September. Quite far into the process they said they won't complete until March (to avoid early redemption penalty on mortgage) but want us to exchange now.

Having this time to think is making me start to feel insecure about the house and question whether I really love it or not. The layout is becoming more and concerning in my head. And I can't help keeping an eye on the market for a house with the layout I'd prefer (an open kitchen onto diner/entertaining space with a separate front room)

This is the house. I've shared it before on here. It's in the right location for us. We all like the feel of it, and I like the bedrooms and space and garden- but the downstairs layout and lack of cloakroom are niggling at me.

Is it normal to get cold feet during this wait period and will it pass once we get moving?

Can they port their mortgage over? Have they asked?

@NeedAHoliday2021 won't say too much on here as it may be outing, but they've had some difficulty arranging their new mortgage.

Have you seen something else you like better in the area? Buying a house is a huge decision. Most people will have to make compromises, but you should feel confident that you got one of, if not the best/most suitable property you could get within your budget. If you think you could genuinely do better and there is something that you would regret, now is your chance to run and find something more suitable.

I think it's normal to get 'the fear'
We are hoping to exchange in a few weeks and I keep worrying about the size of rooms, parking, neighbours etc.
it's such a big decision, I think its normal for it to play on your mind.

When you viewed it, were you excited? I keep taking myself back to that feeling. Trying to remember the reason we wanted to buy it.

That is so cheeky of the sellers! Great house though.

How could that possibly be more outing than posting the actual house?!

I think if it's niggling you this much now it's not the one for you.

OP, I really like it. It reminds me of mine, but yours is twice the size!

I had doubts for a good 6 months after moving in. Covid, business and lack of funds have meant we've been living with a work in progress, but it definitely feels like home. We are happy. Despite the niggles of layout (we have a downstairs bathroom) still being there.

The main plus for me and the kids is location. We love the location. The actual house has grown on me. I wouldn't have been able to buy my previous house in this location. And location won.
