We will soon be going away for 3 nights/four days and I am getting very anxious about leaving the house. I am generally quite an anxious person but there are a few extra factors at the moment - a couple of neighbours have had burst pipes recently, we've had a few minor plumbing issues in the last month (now sorted) and also have a minor roof issue - has been looked at by a builder who says he will sort it once weather drier.
Rationally I know it's normal to go away sometimes and we have taken reasonable precautions - house insurance up to date, will leave heating on, internal stopcock works, boiler service annually. A pet sitter will be popping in and I will leave a key with a neighbour (no family nearby).
But I am really struggling to stop worrying that we will come back with the children to a wet house or get a phone call while away and have to try to sort a house emergency at a distance (we're not going far but wouldn't be easy to come back early). I also keep thinking I hear drips all round the house!
Husband has even less diy/property knowledge than me (which is saying something) so is not much help with this type of thing.
Any tips for how to worry less about this so I am not a nervous wreck until we get back??
