Do you know about soldering? (metal)

I just watched a chap on Youtube make a brass-leaf wreath by soldering leaves he'd cut out onto wire. Wire & leaf were both brass but the solder used was 'electricians' solder. I want to know why brass solder isn't used to join brass to brass? Also electrician's solder is grey & it shows up against the yellow brass so looks less neat.

Also, can you tell me what strength soldering iron is good for home craft? I have a large one for stained glass but I haven't touched it in years.

3rdly, can I just check, he said to add the solder to the iron, then dab the iron to the item. Is this the most accurate way?

Not a soldering expert but I have never seen gold coloured solder, so it might be the case that it doesn't exist?

I was taught to solder by heating up the part you are going to solder and then flowing the solder into the join. Maybe brass is very delicate and can't be heated much in case it gets damaged? Or they might be doing it that way because they don't have enough hand to hold the parts together and solder them at the same time?

Any standard soldering iron will be ok to use with normal lead solder as it has a very low melting point. I would imagine your existing one would be ok as long as you take care not to overheat the joints. I find smaller ones easier to use though.
