Moving to Market Harborough - areas for families

Hi, we will be moving to Market Harborough next year (currently living in Asia so we can’t do a recce trip). I’m looking at catchment areas for primary schools (and would also need to be in the catchment for Robert smyth & Welland Park secondary schools). We want to live a 10-15 min walk from the station. Are the areas by the station nice to live in? Is there anti social behaviour in the centre? Are there bad areas to avoid? Or do you have recommendations for nice areas in MH for families with young kids (6 and 3). Thanks so much

I live in a village just outside MH. I don’t really know the areas to avoid, but the houses around Robert Smyth school are mostly detached and well looked after. There’s a 1990’s estate surrounding the school which has some lovely houses.
They’re a 5 min walk from the town centre. The fringe area of Great Bowden is very pleasant. It used to be a village, but now part of MH.
Welland Park school is excellent, the immediate area is mostly housing built as social housing.
Like most places, the more expensive the houses the nicer the area and schools.
I’m sure someone will come on with a host of negatives, but I like MH, great leisure facilities, restaurants and independent shops.

Lots and lots of new houses being built in the town, all within walking distance of the town centre. Depending on your budget, you should find it simple to get somewhere although it might be a tad further than 20 minute walk from the station.
