Dishwasher tablet not dissolving - help.

Can anyone help with any ideas / suggestions as to why my dishwasher tablets aren’t dissolving. (this has just started happening today)

The compartment is opening, but the tablet is still undissolved in there at the end of the wash.

pic attached of recent quick wash.
after longer washes the tablet was more intact.

Shout out to @pigletjohn or anyone else who can help.
TIA

Whitwhit I use the Finish brand one, a container full lasts ages, I put some in the drawer & some on the door.

I have this when I use the quick wash function because the water only heats to 45c I think. When I use the normal cycle, no issues.

Put it on the floor of the dishwasher instead of in the little door compartment.

Mine was doing this and we just started throwing the tabs into the bottom of the dishwasher (like pp) and no issues since; would def try that x

both times this has happened to us, it was because the dishwasher wasn’t really getting enough water. One dishwasher it could be repaired with a simple swap of a part.

another time the dishwasher was toast, not the same one that had been repaired as that eventually died a different way

When this happened to me it was that it wasn't heating. Had to get a new one, cheaper than trying to repair.

but the dishwasher runs a rinse cycle first? would that not dissolve the tablet befor the wash cycle starts?
or am I missing something?

btw the lidl eco tablets are fab. and without perfume.

No idea but everything comes out looking clean and none of us have become sick from using cutlery and crockery washed in this way. Cheaper than getting the dishwasher repaired or replaced.

I tend to use the 37min wash, on my machine. I just chuck tablet to bottom of it. Also, never use pods only tablets

Dbank · 18/12/2022 23:11

Perhaps try using dishwasher powder?

I wouldn't recommend putting tablets or powders anyway other than the compartment, as most of it will be removed on the pre-wash cycle.

If you really want to know and have 32 minutes to spare (yes really) check out this

You'll find the tablets do not dissolve much in cold water. The initial rinse is both cold and short. They dissolve fairly quickly in hot, squirting water. I find the cutlery basket works fine.

Incidentally, our new dishwasher has the cutlery tray, but you can buy additional or replacement plastic cutlery baskets on Ebay, they are much cheaper than spares from Bosch or other makers, and I find they fit OK.

SleekMamma · 19/12/2022 10:50

If you buy the more expensive tablet capsule things they dissolve and clean really well

AnOldCynic · 21/12/2022 06:46

The instructions that came with my machine actually said to put tablets in the cutlery holder.

I use powder as I have a smaller machine and it's more sustainable and eco-friendly.

ThorsBedazzler · 21/12/2022 12:14

I use Smol tablets and the pink side can stick to the tablet compartment if it is wet before I start the dishwasher.
