What colour blinds?

Having a new kitchen fitted this week - black worktops/splashbacks and white cupboards. Looking at new flooring, will probably go for oak wood style throughout the ground floor.. any tips on what colour kitchen blinds I should go for? It's a small kitchen so I was thinking oak colour 'wood' to match the floor, or glossy white blinds? Can't make up my mind so any tips gratefully received :-)

I’ve got white blinds. After three years, some of them are beige….and we are not that messy.

I was imagining fabric blinds in an oak print.

I’ve worked it out now. Oak would be nice.

I was thinking of a colour such as green or red?

Following, I have a similar dilemma, in a kitchen I wouldn’t go glossy, oak sounds lovely.

Between oak or white - I would go for the oak. It will look warmer and more luxurious - also it would tie the flooring in with the kitchen. What are you doing with the walls?

Not sure you will match the oak. Not sure if go for white either. I’d probably want a colour. The black will absorb light so maybe a slight contrast such as eau de nil or even a sunny yellow. Wood venetians work well or a roller blind. Some venetians have coloured tapes to add interest.,

@Forgotthekindle - very boring but probably just white.. it is a very small kitchen so trying to avoid colours. (Magnolia at a push as this will be colour in dining room or a warm yellowy cream).

Lounge we're going to be more adventurous but that's the hardest room to coordinate yet.

So long as it’s toning, it will look good I think. It doesn’t need to be an exact match.

I’m not sure wood (oak) looks great with a black worktop. It’s all a bit dull. I say that as someone who had a black worktop and DD got rid of hers in her small kitchen area. Lighter colours do make a difference and add a bit of style.

I've bought kitchen blinds from here www.blinds-2go.co.uk/wood_blinds.htm

You can order samples .

I didn't think magnolia walls will work with the black and white. Either white as you were thinking, or a more contrasting colour.
I've just put this blind in my bathroom, which is white walls with black/dark grey flooring and tiles. It's looks fab with peacock and light grey towels from Dunelm. www.blinds-2go.co.uk/roman-blinds/24700/shadow-leaf-linen-admiral.html
Would white walls and then some colour with the blind and accessories work for you?

dotdotdotdash · 13/12/2022 20:47

Blinds2go does nice linen blend ones. A stone colour would soften your scheme a bit and also won’t show the dirt like white or cream!

Bluevelvetsofa · 13/12/2022 22:24

Blinds2go is very good. We’ve recently had Zebra blinds from there. Easy to vacuum and a bit different from ordinary blinds.

If you're going with off white walls I think I'd be tempted to get a similar tone blind or go with the oak. As much as I'd love to have fabric, having had open shelving in my last kitchen and seeing how greasy everything got even with a good extractor I'd want something easily cleanable with a good degreaser!

GoinSouth · 14/12/2022 16:28

@SollaSollew - yes, from previous experience with fabric blinds in a kitchen I'm also giving them a miss. It'll most likely be wood in whatever colour we go for. We'll wait and see once kitchen is fitted for final colour.
