Heating Schedule / cost of living

What is everybody's heating Schedule?
Now that it is freezing outside, we don't want our DS to get sick. But heating is super expensive.

I was just sat thinking about this! Ours is coming up so expensive it’s worrying. We usually put it on at night because the house is cold and we have a 4 year old and 6 month old

I have on from 6.30 to 10pm at 20 degrees. At the moment this means boiler is 'on' for about 5-6hrs a day to maintain temp (data from Hive thermstat app). It drops down to around 18 degrees overnight.

Yes it's expensive but easier to justify when you remember your heating was off for way over half the year thanks to the unusually warm weather.

We haven't got ours on yet! House is hovering around 9 degrees which is ok for me with a few layers. I work from home and can afford to have it on all day so it'll go on when husband is also home.

When we do it'll be an hour in mornings, 1 in evenings where we are home for any length of time (there's 3 nights a week we get home late and go straight to bed so no point).

We have it set for 6-7 am then we just press the +1hr button when we feel cold, which is getting more frequent this last week. We're both retired so home all day and using more heat. We do light the log burner most days. The heating is on more when the children are home from school as their bedrooms are on the second floor so they don't feel the benefit of the log burner.

We have a thermostat so the heating automatically comes on if it drops below 18.5 during the day or 16 at night. DS is 6 months old so keeping it slightly warmer than if it was just adult's.
The amount of time the heating is on for depends how cold it is outside - this week its averaged about 3.5 hours a day in total. A couple of weeks ago it was averaging around 2 hours.

We have our thermostat set to 17°C for an hour and a half in the morning and three hours in the evening. Otherwise, it's set to 10°C and never really activates the boiler. The thermostat is on the wall in the hall, which is pretty cold, so in practice the rooms we use are probably a degree or two warmer - maybe about 18-19°C - which we find pretty pleasant.

During the day I work from home, but in a well-insulated log cabin in the garden which is separately heated.
