New to dehumidifiers and advice wanted

I've just got a 20l compressor dehumidifier and am a bit at sea about how to best use it.

Before I got it, the humidity in my bedroom was 68%, and my living room 60% at night.

I have COPD and apparently should be in a 40% humidity or less environment to stay well.

I've turned it on full whack with a target of 35

I left it running in my bedroom with the door shut for the first day, and got down to 45; it went in my living room yesterday (again with the door shut), stayed on overnight, and was 38 this morning. My bedroom was 55.

At the moment I've got it on in the living room with the door open and it's at 46%.

I'm not sure how I'm meant to do this properly to make sure my whole flat dehumidifies - should I be just putting it in my hallway and leaving all the doors open, or should I be moving it between rooms with closed doors?
Or (and this might sound daft) should I actually be running one in each room? My flat's 80m² overall, but the bedroom and living room are 25m² each.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I've read a few threads on here and have been moving it around but I'd like to lea e in hall and let it run. I may try that next week after I've gone over the rooms again.

I am new to dehumidifiers too. I have just started using a desiccant one, chosen as house is cold.
My humidity was high at 78 though no condensation or mould.
I have kept moving mine around as I am keen to treat all areas at once.
It has lowered humidity to 54-61each place I put it but it then goes up some again so think now I have got rid of the worst I need to put it somewhere and leave it

I’m interested in this too if anyone has advice

humidifier runs at 50 to 70 but have damp windows

so open windows all morning and run in evening

There should be info in the instructions about what sqaure footage your dehumidifier can treat. If it is powerful enough it might be best to keep in the hallway wigh all doors left open.
My dehumidifier is kept upstairs in the room where i have clothes on an airer, it keeps humidity low but cannot treat my whole house

You'd think do, wouldn't you....There isn't.

I got in touch with the company i bought it from and asked their advice - this is what they said:

"Yes, this would be suitable for a 1 bedroom flat.

Positioning the dehumidifier in a central position within your home, for example the landing or hallway. If you have more of a problem in one area of your house/flat, place the dehumidifier closer to that area. Leave all the interior doors open and keep the windows closed. Moisture in the air, from the entire house, will migrate towards the dehumidifier allowing the machine to reduce the relative humidity level."

I've got the front room down to 42, going to shift it into the hall, open all the doors and see how it goes...

I've noticed that not a single window had any condensation this morning, when they usually do. I think this is a good sign Smile

I think if you use it frequently anywhere the flat will be generally less humid anyway.

You could leave it the bedroom with the door open and see how that works.

Basically wait a week or two before coming to any conclusions.
