Anyone installed their own Tado system?

I am looking at getting the Tado smart thermostat system and they say it's easy to install yourself. Has anyone done this and is it fairly straightforward for a lay person. Our boiler is old and so it worries me that it won't be so straightforward. Thanks

I did ours, it was very easy.

I did ensure I did it on a weekday so if everything broke I could call out and engineer but they have videos on how to remove your old one and install the new one

(For context, they stopped making our old boiler in 1984, that's how old it was, and the timer was a Honeywell)

@SussexBonfireViking thanks for replying. That is reassuring to know. Not sure how old our boiler is but it was here when we moved in over 18 years ago!

@SussexBonfireViking sorry another question. Did you just replace your programmer with the Tado or did you need to replace the wire that goes from the boiler to the programmer too. Our boiler is a bit inaccessible if I need to replace the wire as I'd have to take the cupboard that houses the boiler off the wall to get access to inside the boiler.

Yes. Relatively simple except we had to do something a bit odd as it seems we have the Betamax of boilers. YouTube was our guide.

@ThatPirateLady so I have been looking at this in more detail today. We will get the wireless thermostat starter kit (we don't currently have a thermostat wired it non-wired. but from what I can work out we also need the extension kit which replaces the programmer. Is that right.? Is this how the thermostat 'communicates' with the boiler via the extension kit? It's not very clear in what I've read. Thanks!!

Ours was wired, sorry

I took the old one off and put the new one on. I didn't have to do anything odd
