Outhouse door swollen shut

I have a lovely but tiny house, where fortunately also has 2 brick outhouses for storage. The smaller one is used very infrequently and what with all the recent rain, the door has swollen shut. Not only does it have the Christmas decs in, but also the spare wheelchair that we need very soon.

Does anyone have any failsafe ways to get the door open, without brut strength as we are a family of various disabilities so brut strength is sadly lacking. I am currently thinking of having to hire a handyperson, but cost is an issue.

Probably not helpful but my Nan used to use the hairdryer on her back door if the rain had swollen it.
Can you heat it with anything?

Do you have any young and strapping neighbours you could ask ? It probably will open with some effort, failing that you will need to jemmy it open, which would also take strength and damage the door edge.

Ask the postman when he comes to try and open it

I was thinking that, could maybe attack it with the hairdryer if it ever stops raining!

I don't really know my neighbours as we havent been here that long. I think those on one side are elderly, and the other works away.

I can't remember the last time I saw the postman! I would have asked my old postie straight away as he was lovely, but I don't know this one well enough I think. Maybe will have to give a decent Christmas tip this year to break the ice Grin

Check the hinges to see if they can be unscrewed. Probably wont be possible so then you are stuck with trying to dry it out and then make sure there is a good paint coat on the bottom of the door as that may be where the water got in.

If you don't find screwing another handle on the front it'd spread the 'pull' along the door and may well help open it.
