Penetrating damp in loft room HELP

I’ve been having an ongoing issue in our loft room with damp penetrating into the wall on the gable end where the chimney is. It started at the top and has worked it’s way down.

I’ve had it flaunched, new pots and most recently repointed/painted with water repellent. Our roofer has been out a minimum of 3 times, and has said he doesn’t now what else to do after the latest work. He said it was absolutely soaked and would take months to dry.

I have a damp reader thing and it’s reading 19% in the worst places. He said it would keep coming out. How on earth am I meant to know if the leak has been fixed once and for all? It looks darker today (after the rain) but is this it coming out? I’m at a loss now 😩

Any idea what I can do, it's stressing me out.

Thanks in advance

Get a good dehumidifier going in there, wait till next spring until the air is dryer,we had this problem with a chimney breast and soot seeped through. We then, after much drying used an antidamp paint inside and special sealant outside, sorry I can't remember the name, this was 20 years ago.

This was a 1930s house, cat slide roof, bedrooms with very sloping ceilings built into the loft space.

Me again! Was wondering if there was a particular reason your roofer used the flaunching method,as opposed to the usual lead flashing. Is water seepage through the concrete. as he cannot find a reason, have you thought about forking out for a surveyor.

Has it had the chance to dry out ? The repellent might be trapping the old moisture from getting out (am not an expert!).
