Composite Decking: grooves or wood?

Hi, I’ve seen lots of talk about different makes of board but not much discussion about non-slip properties. I would much rather use the wood effect side of the boards than the groove and I think it might be easier to clean. I would really value anyone’s experience of either.

My sister has it smooth side up. I didn't realise there was an option. Looks great but possibly a bit slippery when wet?

On decking the grooved side should always go underneath. The grooves are not to provide grip, they're to stop damp getting trapped and rotting the bearers that support the deck.

We have smooth side up and right now super slippery because we haven't cleaned it
It's been down 18 months so I suspect if it were done annually or spring/autumn it would be better.
I'm just a bit lazy overwhelmed with work

We have composite decking. Ours is installed with the grooves up because we preferred the look of it. It's not slippery at all. It's easy enough to clean, we just give it a scrub with a stiff brush a couple of times a year.

Grooves on the u seaside for decking - it’s to help with airflow, damp etc.

Underside!

Everybody, thanks for your help. Amazing that some of the people who sell the product promote it groove side up!
