Corian dining table? Mad? Other indestructibles?

Does anyone have one? I’m looking for something that can take the battering of toddlers and every day heavy usage but that will wipe clean and look good as new. My old wooden table is certainly characterful but chipped and dinged to bits and always makes the dining area look untidy. I thought about quartz but is that more likely to chip (and £££££)?

I know Corian is quite marmite but I do like some of the samples I’ve seen and the feel. I’ve been looking but not found many online but I thought the benefit of Corian was it could be moulded into anything! Is there a reason why it is not used?

Failing ALL that…hit me with your recommendations for indestructible dining tables that are low maintenance and won’t require me to remortgage to afford!

We had a James Burleigh table which was amazing - melamine top which cleaned easily and never stained, despite being white!

Corian does scratch fairly easily, although you can sand it.

What about granite? That really is indestructible, and depending on the colour not necessarily that expensive.

I have compact laminate kitchen worktoos. Would that work for you?

Worktops

We have a corian topped table, wipes clean fine everyday. We have 3 primary aged kids, eat at it everyday and I work from home on it, seems to be coping well so far!

@joleyn i was hoping to hear that :) does it show scratches? The samples I have look super smooth. How long have you had it please?

We've had it about a year, not noticed any scratches (it's a speckled white which maybe helps). We do try to use Placemats and coasters etc!

Late to the party but we have a white frosted glass top on our kitchen table. After a year it shows no wear whatsoever.

It's bombproof.

Thanks @Mosaic123 ! I still haven’t decided but am swaying towards quartz now…I know it will be super heavy but given we don’t have space for an island (which I would have loved) I’m thinking the dining table then becomes a central feature and will be used almost as a bit of a multifunctional pseudo island so would be nice to tie in with the kitchen worktops.
ive gone off corian a little when I’ve seen it in real life use (new office have corian kitchen areas and it doesn’t look like I’d imagined).
Im waiting on a quote for the quartz table…I’m expecting it to be £££££s 🙈
