Kitchen & bathroom extractor fans

Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good solution for kitchen and bathroom ventilation. As I'm getting completely lost looking online.

We have nothing in the bathroom and a useless recirculating hood in the kitchen at the moment. House is generally quite damp anyway so have dehumidifiers running but obviously could do with removing the additional moisture we're creating with showers and cooking.

Ideally looking for something pretty powerful as we cook a lot and have a couple of hot showers a day. Don't want a traditional cooker hood extractor in the kitchen as we're planning to change the kitchen in the next year or two and it'll be redundant and will still need general ventilation. Also would love something not tied to the light being on as we don't generally use the bathroom light in the day time.

Any ideas anyone??

Dunno about your kitchen situation but the bathroom is an easy fix. In our bathroom we have the light and fan on separate pulls. That way if someone has a midnight pee we don't all get punished with 15mins of fan noise.

Thank you, but I'm really looking for specific fan recommendations as well

www.xpelair.co.uk/product/c4sr-simply-silent-extract-fan

I’ve just had an en-suite and bathroom re-furb and had these I both.

For your kitchen you need an extractor fan that's powerful enough to remove the volume of air in the room quickly. This is measured in cubic meters. Mine is by AEG, has a large duct tube going into the ceiling and out the outside wall in the loft space. It can be resited when you redo your kitchen.

Just Google extractor fans that can handle the size of your kitchen and how quickly, then select one in your price range. Silent ones cost more and price can range from £700 to £2k for good brands like Miele, AEG, Siemens. 90cm is a good size,
I wash the filter in my dishwasher.

I just had a new xpelair fitted in my main bathroom, The old one was better and more powerful. I had just left it up to the fitting plumbers and should have paid more attention to the spec.
