Is East Dulwich a nice area?

Hi, We are looking at two houses in East Dulwich, one is at Fellbrigg Rd and another one is at Friern Rd. The house at Friern one is better than Fellbrigg one, but I feel people living at Fellbrigg are better (a lot of council-owned converted flats on Friern Road). Dulwich is completely new to me, my opinion may be wrong, please give me some advice. Thanks!

Don't tell people they're overreacting when you said "I feel people living at Fellbrigg are better"

the irony of it 😆

What are you talking about?

You are backtracking OP.
You clearly said that homeowners are better people than council tenants.

Whatever you prefer to understand:) comparing people is not my intention or key point in this post. If you are not familiar with the area you can simply walk away.

Is English your first language? Because you're intent on demanding posters read into what you "clearly" meant, instead of just expressing yourself clearly in the first place.
And you're deluded if you think you can identify which flats are owner occupied by looking at the land registry entries, when you haven't met any of these people in person.

@Whataretheodds err the irony of the OP...

Oh! I thought you were pointing it at me!

@yfhh don't make this out to be interpretation. Your original post was very badly worded if you didn't mean to judge the people, because that's exactly what it does.

You'd be better off asking this on the East Dulwich Forum!

Anyway I guess this is the Felbrigg Road one: www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/62838248/

Yes it's a nice/naice area. Though hard to get to the West End / central London, it forms its own yummy bubble.

Quite a lot of crime though. For instance someone was violently robbed in a house off Lordship Lane after being followed home.

It's expensive to rent in London, a two bedroom flat in East Dulwich is probably nearly £2k a month. So the people you don't want to live near are very likely to be earning more than some those who own their own houses. I'm assuming that you think that people who rent are somehow different and inferior to those who buy? I don't think money is not a measure of someone's value, but sounds as if you do.

I live in a nice part of London and my mortgage is nowhere near that because I bought a long time ago.

So whatever assumptions you are

i live nearby. Lordship Lane is nice. ED is a bit of transport black spot apart from ED station. Like all of London it’s very mixed street to street, I don’t think researching the ownership of nearby property is that useful. We own a flat in a council-owned block and it’s very quiet and well maintained, nice neighbours.

Excuse typos and stray last line. TLDR don't judge people by their income/housing status.

You'll fit in just fine!

CorporateBull · 13/11/2022 12:30

Hahaha.

We used to own a house in ED, bought many years ago on public sector salaries. We rented it out for a while when work took us overseas (1) to a corporate lawyer whose salary was three times what we earned put together and (2) to bankers, whose salaries were astronomical.

kirinm · 13/11/2022 17:01

ED is nice but I find it really busy now. I'd prefer Peckham or Nunhead.

I don't believe for a second you've looked into that owenship of every converted flat in the area sorry!
