Anyone due to complete mid December? Christmas decorations?

It's looking increasingly likely we'll complete either w/c 5th or 12th December. If it's the former, I might not bother with the (artificial) tree but if it's the latter then I don't want to miss that nice magical run up - I have a six year old DS. But also not sure I can be arsed with putting it up and taking it down twice. What's everyone else planning on doing?

My tree goes up on the 18th.
I am moving on the 16th.
I would buy one the day after you move in a pot.

Just leave it all until you've moved. It will make the new house even more magical for your child.
But then I never put my tree up until the 18th at the earliest!

This was us last year. We put up a few decs at the start of December and bought a mini tree. Glad we did as we ended up not moving until the end of January! Maybe get some paper chains to make together and other little bits so you have some decs up? Hope it all goes smoothly for you 😁🎄

Wondered the same as I’m hoping we might start talking completion dates this week so could be Dec. we usually put our tree up first weekend in Dec. agree wouldn’t want to put it up twice.

We're looking to complete at the end of Nov and then moving in on the 14th Dec so I've been having similar thoughts. We're staying with my parents for Christmas itself though so I'm thinking I may just put up a few bits and pieces once we've unpacked and maybe get one of those little trees rather than go all out at home. DS is 3 though so this will be the first time he has any real understanding of Christmas and it feels a shame not to do anything.

Surely moving is enough hassle without having to take down Christmas decorations? I don't know why you'd even consider putting a tree up. Confused Put it up in the new house, there's still plenty of time for the build up.

BusySittingDown · 06/11/2022 16:18

We're, fingers crossed, moving on the 16th. Our decorations are in storage and we're in a rented house at the moment so I'll just put the decorations up when we moved.

Once, years ago we moved on the 22nd December. I hadn't anticipated moving before Christmas, I had thought it was going to be after so our decorations were already up (I tend to decorate on the 1st usually). That year I covered the fully decorated artificial tree with a bin liner and lifted it straight into the van, then off the van into our new house. It survived the journey and I didn't have to put it back up!

This was us last year with a 2 year old and 37 weeks pregnant, we moved on 10th, tree was up the 11th I couldn't wait any longer wanted it to be exciting for ds, i ended up having dc2 on Christmas Day Grin So it stayed up longer than I would normally. I would wait rather than put it up the down then up again moving is stressful enough

RidingMyBike · 06/11/2022 17:43

We don't put ours up until the weekend before Christmas anyway Wink

Littlegoth · 06/11/2022 17:47

Me! Still waiting for a date but increasingly likely it will be December (new build so they will want their bonus!).

I’ll be having a glass of mulled wine and putting them up the day we move our stuff in. As long as I have a bed and the first week of clothes I’ll unpack everything else later 😂

Abra1t · 06/11/2022 17:48

We never put ours up until the week before Christmas.

Thesehills · 06/11/2022 18:47

Us!

Ours will go up when we move in, on or around the 16th.

Honeybirds · 06/11/2022 19:30

We are hoping to complete the 12th to so going to wait until we are in the new house
