A house that looks ideal for our needs in many ways has come on the market. The caveat is, it is directly opposite a school.

It does have its own driveway, but would the school parking issues/idling cars/deliveries etc make living there a right pain.

Has anyone got experience of living quite so close to a school?

My in laws live very close to a school but they don’t have a driveway so it was always a pain if we visited at school times trying to get a parking space outside their house.
i think if it has a driveway then that will help. If your kids go to that school then ideal.
i wouldn’t want to be opposite a secondary school though

I live the same distance from a secondary school and I don't mind at all.

I was a teacher until this year so to be fair, I was always out the house before and after the school run. Yes it is busy, but I like that there's always people milling about during the day.

Lovely house. BUT it does not make up for its location for me. I had a choice of identical houses recently on a new build estate. One had smaller garden, the other bigger garden and on the school road. I am 100% glad i chose the smaller garden property. All i hear from residents on the school road is how often they have emailed the head of school about pupils disruptive behaviour, damage etc etc. They keep posting videos on the facebook page from their Ring doorbells of faceless kids damaging stuff. Then there is the parking. OMG no i couldnt do it.

We’re in a rental with an independent school (5-18) at the end of our road, a second independent (5-18) school a few 2 minutes walk from there, a state secondary 12 houses down and a state school (5-18) 5 minutes walk away. We don’t have kids yet so I didn’t realise when I found the flat!

It’s fine but we can’t easily go out between 8.15-9.30 or 3-4. We park on the road and it’s full of 4x4s at that time and all the roads around us come to a standstill. We work from home though so it doesn’t really matters

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the kids themselves - I was a horrible teenager but the kids I see are all very well behaved. They’re never fighting or causing a ruckus and they always move to let me past. Standards have clearly improved in the last 15 years!!

Surely this is a secondary school

It's right opposite Our Lady And sadly Woodall Lane is a bit of a rat run for traffic especially with the all of the road closures in town which is set to continue for the next year at least it's a beautiful house I only wish I could afford rooms that size but it is a busy spot I've lived here for 16 years email from the council for authenticity

These restrictions are never in place for residents! Visitors only. They are there to encourage parents to walk their kids to school.

Yes but residents' visitors and deliveries can't drive down during the restricted times. That's why it's a pain for residents.

It wouldn't bother me at all. House looks lovely.
