Getting property ready for sale is overwhelming

On a budget and prepping house ready for sale.

OK with basic decorating, cleaning, decluttering but being on my own finding getting a whole house looking good overwhelming.

Its an older house so do one task and it reveals others. I know if I pace myself - eat the elephant a bite at a time - it will all get done but....

Anyone in, or been in, a similar situation and found ways through it?

martinisforeveryone The idea of pretending I'm someone else doing the tasks is weirdly appealing - will give it a go.

Also becoming aware of the need not to overly stage. Still leave it looking like people live in my house rather than creating an overly blank canvass.

You've reminded me of a friend's RightMove photos - she'd missed a dog toy under the bed, it looked like a dead cat. Do check the photos the agent show you carefully :)

I think you should make the effort.

Decluttering amd purging has to be done anyway or you'll end up arranging junk you don't need in your new home.
I'd start with that. You'll also need to take down family photos.

If you have a garden, I'd tidy it up. In particular I'd pay attention to curb appeal. Do up the exterior in the front. Clean the windows. Put some nice plants in pots out front. Spruce up hedges, flowerbeds..

A deep clean makes the house look and smell fresher. Fresh neutral paint and an attempt to convey a comfortable and relaxed lifestyle in the home can make it attractive. People can see themselves living there and don't get a vivid mental picture of you and your life when they look at the house.
