Do I need to prime front door

I'm about to repaint the front door. It'd wood which I'd previously painted in Dulux Weathershield. We've had the cill replaced as it was a bit rotten and I've primed the new wood. Do I need to prime the rest of the door, or can I get away with just sanding it back a bit?

I've used Zinsser 123 primer on the new wood cill.

I would, lightly rub it back with 120 grit just to key the surface first.

Thank you. So you would sand with 120, then prime? Would you lightly sand again before too coating?

@LyndaSnellsSniff I would scuff sand with the 120 grit where you just rough up the surface, Zinsser bin 123 either red tin or blue tin is the absolute hands down best primer there is out there, so I would prime the door and then paint. I did mine earlier in the year. It was painted by me years ago and I still primed again to give a good bond between the old paint and the new paint.

Re sanding between coats, I did but then I am a bit of a perfectionist. I used 300 grit between the two paint coats.

Excellent, thank you. I'm planning on painting the top coat in a Little Greene exterior. They only seem to do Dulux Weathershield satin in a very limited range of colours these days. The quick dry version comes in whichever colour you like but I don't like using it.

My DIY motto is: If you are going to do something it's worth doing it properly.

Prime, undercoat, 2x topcoat.

I'd also strongly recommend Lakeland Paint.

You only really need to prime bare wood and places where you've put filler, otherwise undercoat then topcoat.
