Samsung washing machine - delay end confusion

I would be grateful for advice on this. I have a Samsung washing machine with a delay end button. I used it and delayed the end by an hour, but it still started. What I’d like to do is delay the start so that I can run it overnight on my economy 7 tariff. I did Google, but some links suggested it delays parts of the cycle. Please could someone clarify? Sorry if this is a very stupid question.

I use mine on economy seven. You select the programme, then select the number of hours you wish to delay the start by, then press play. The display will then count down

I have a Samsung washing machine and when you press the delay end button and then press the start button it does briefly start but then it stops.

I think that it will appear to start, when it's really just rotating the drum to establish the (presumably weight of) the content, thus calculating the cycle length and therefore the end time, to fit with when you want the cycle to finish.

Oh, and I think the delay timer is for when you want it to finish. So if you put a 3-hour load in at 9pm, but you want it to finish at 7am, you would input a 10-hour delay (i.e finish in 10 hours), and the machine will then turn on at 4am.

If you have a 3-hour load, and select to delay end by one hour, it will just start immediately because it can't finish in that time.

Brilliant! Thank you all. I’m usually knocked out by 10 and CBA to wake up at 11pm to start it. This is great to know.

It'it'd probably be best to check the manual for your model. Yewtown has a delay start function, while my Samsung has a delay end function.

Replied before I saw your post - that makes perfect sense now! Thank you so much for explaining it.

Mine is the same as @skilpadde - it means you just need to decide in how many hours you would like the washing to finish. The machine will then calculate when it needs to start based on the programme you have selected.
