Is there a website where you can see how much an asking price has dropped by?

Or search by properties that have dropped in price?

I feel like there used to be one, but isn't now. I wish rightmove had a filter that let you search by pricedrop.

Yes, get Property Log extension for Chrome browser.

There used to be propertysnake. I don’t know if it’s still a thing because my work laptop flagged it as pornographic and wouldn’t let me access it so I didn’t try again 😂

Right move has sold house prices.
Good if you have been following the market and know how much was asked for the house originally… no good if you haven’t.
I use it to see how much houses have been sold for over the years. Interestingly some do drop in value and it’s clear that previous buyers paid over the odds.

God I love mumsnet. I've googled to try and answer that question three times in the past two weeks - several hours and no answer. Post the question on mumsnet and it's cracked in two minutes! Thanks, everyone!

Zoopla also usually show listing history, towards the bottom of the property's individual listing page. But don't think it's possible to search by price reduction 🤔

I’ve been using a combination of the chrome plug in (I think the one above) and Zoopla listing history.

There’s a property I’m in love with that’s listed for £390k (well beyond our £320k max budget) and the plug in doesn’t show any history but Zoopla listing history shows it was listed just under 2 years ago for £335k. It’s definitely overpriced and this really confirms it for me, given nothing similar was going for that much back then.

Why not offer them 300k, you would still probably be overpaying and they could say no, but worth a try?

Paddingtonthebear · 03/11/2022 20:32

I tried to use the one of the plugins this week and you have to pay now to see the figures, think it might have been propertylog

TheMoonLight · 03/11/2022 20:46

I use 'Property Tracker' Chrome extension'. Go to the Chrome Web Store and type it into the search function. Should come up? It tracks changes to price data in Rightmove. I find it really useful. It's free.

I think an offer that low early on will just cause bad feeling, if they’ve had it on for some time and had to reduce it already they’ll probably feel more open to considering offers! We’re looking for a forever home so we can ride out the next decade as long as we aren’t paying crazy prices.
