Anyone had a new bathroom fitted lately?

And if so, how much did it cost?

Something in our bathroom is causing a damp patch to appear on the kitchen ceiling. The bathroom is all fitted units and probably went in sometime in the 90s so we might as well refresh the whole thing if we're going to have to dismantle bits anyway. Bath, sink, loo, shower unit and tiled to half height and floor. We're Midlands based.

I realise we're going to have to get proper quotes but I'd like to have an idea before we do just so we can have a think about how to pay for it. I can't remember even vaguely how much it cost last time I replaced a bathroom as I think my dad did a lot of it which wouldn't be the case this time.

Thanks!

Yep ours was done in July 2.8x1.8 bathroom. Fully tiled, walk in shower £6300. Had loads of problems with the concealed cistern wish we just had normal loo Angry other than that tiles are beautiful and shower is heavenly

My parents are currently getting there’s done.
fully ripped out back to the wooden battens, and floorboards.
Getting new plasterboard and dropped ceiling. Plastered, shower panel walls full length on 2 walls. and shower panel ceiling. Double walk in shower, (screen, tray and shower), toilet, wall hung sink with drawer storage. Cushion floor. New spotlights, electric towel radiator, light up mirror.
Water tank and hot water tank in hall removed and replaced with new tank and water heater.
Costing just under £10k

Just over £5. New shower, toilet, reused old sink. No bath. New lights. Took about 2 weeks.

Thanks, that's really helpful (and less than I feared, which is nice!)

Yes, was around £10k all in and we didn't stint. Fully tiled with really nice tiles from Italy. New bath, wall-hung loo and basin, gorgeous mirror, stone countertop/window ledge, boarded ceiling, new lights, fancy radiator. New electrics box for house.
Local fitter, was recommended to us and in that golden stage of his career where he's experienced, able, proud of his work but hasn't taken on a less skilled sidekick yet!

I reckon if you're less picky "a new bathroom" could be done for quite a few thousand less. We were looking for something that would see us out - a growing family who'll move in 4 years will just be "make it work, and not leak!".

£18000 but that includes knocking down and rebuilding walls plus all new piping, knocking into a chimney, taking out old school hot water tanks and putting in a complete new system in the loft plus a complete refit

Beamur · 25/10/2022 16:29

We've gone for practical rather than high end. It's a lovely big shower with nice fittings, but a fairly standard toilet, we re-used the basin and put on new taps. New radiator, new heated mirror and toothbrush charger. Looks smart but not fancy.

We had a main bathroom and our ensuite done for £2k this summer.

Fayrazzled · 25/10/2022 16:45

Having mine done as we speak. The installation- plumbing, plastering, electrics etc is around £5k. The tiles, flooring, fixtures and fittings are costing us another £7k.

Are you giving sexual favours to the plumber or married to them or both. ?

SpamhappyTootsie · 25/10/2022 17:16

£14,000 for complete gutting of old bathroom, new ceiling, tower radiator, stand alone bath, stud walls around chimney breast for shower cubicle etc. The Labour is £8,000, bathroom co ordinator sorting all the different trades out and sourced all the fittings except tiles. Due to start next week.

AnnieMay55 · 25/10/2022 17:30

We had our bathroom refitted about 5 years ago. Whole bathroom including fitted cabinet removed. Ceiling re-plastered, painted and ceiling lights fitted, new bath, shower unit, toilet was basin in unit, fitted bathroom cabinet, heated towel rail, underfloor heating floor and walls fully tiled. Not sure if it took 8 or 10 days, one man doing everything except the plastering.£12,000 in SE/E.Anglia.

Flagshitstore · 25/10/2022 17:43

Doing it at the mo. I currently have a shell of a room.

For plasterboard walls, partial tiling, a slight movement of plumbing, suite, towel rail, floor its looking to be about 5k with fitting.

glamourousindierockandroll · 25/10/2022 17:45

Full new suite with large wall hung vanity. Fully tiled walls and floor, new towel rail.

£6000 in April this year.

ihatewinter2 · 25/10/2022 17:48

Mine was £5k last year - fully tiled, nothing extravagant but it's lovely and very happy with it.

Freddiefan · 25/10/2022 17:53

£8,500. Completely gutted, large shower, no bath now.

A little tip - if you can’t get a bath or shower, put a paddling pool next to the kitchen sink and use a large plastic jug to pour water over your head.

freeindigo · 25/10/2022 17:53

We just want our shower replaced and want to keep our existing newish shower door, but want two shower panels replacing and new tray plus damage under shower fixed as it was leaking. We've had two quotes of 3.6k for just that and they still won't give us a date they can actually do it despite chasing them for weeks. I think all the trades prioritise full bathroom works. This is SE.

Annalisehm · 25/10/2022 17:54

Midlands.

7,500k
Dropped pipes in to floor boards
New ceiling
Fully tiled floor and wall (hexagon on floor so took longer)
New sink
New toilet
Free standing bath
Full wet room
Shower wet room with glass
Collumn radiator

£2,500 was on the bathroom fitments
£1,000 on tiles

£400 on radiator

Blankscreen · 25/10/2022 17:58

We've just had ours done.

8.5k labour cost I lcuding herringbone tiling. Cutting of bathroom and new pipework

£5k on bathroom fittings (this inxudeed a 25% discount)

£1k on tiling

I was shocked at the cost.

We had some quotes of 10k plus vat to fit it.

Now need to get it decorated.

FallopianTubeTrain · 25/10/2022 18:03

Thanks everyone, this is all very helpful.

Just had shower room refitted, large shower enclosure, basin with mixer tap & loo, £5,700. Finished yesterday.

bravelittletiger · 25/10/2022 18:27

Ours was probably about £15k all in. But it involved a small bit of layout change so they had to knock down a wall and rebuild it
