Cheap ways to furnish a flat

I'm moving into a one bed flat soon. It's quite spacious, particularly the living area. It's the first time I'll be moving into a rental that's completely unfurnished.

I'm buying a new bed, but beyond that I'm hoping to furnish it mostly second-hand. I don't have enough money to buy brand new everything. What I've considered so far is:

Freecycle
FB Market Place (though the amount of sponsored/fake ads on there drives me mad.)
Gumtree
Charity shops

I'm thinking for white goods I might hire a washing machine and maybe buy a fridge second hand/on 0% cc. What complicates it is I don't drive, so it will be hard to pick up things like sofas etc.

If you've moved into a house you've furnished second-hand how did you do it? Are there any gems missing from my list?

Auction house they usually do house clearances and fridges and sofas and wardrobes are cheap and most auction houses have a van so for a small charge can deliver as well (my daughter has an auction house)

Go to a furniture charity shop and learn how to upcycle .. Frenchic furniture paint is amazing !

I bought so much stuff off Facebook marketplace and then used a website I think it’s called Simplyfy they will basically pick up pieces from around the country for you but locally just use a man with a van, it adds about £20 to the price of everything that you pay, but it’s usually still a significant savings and you’re helping a local business too

This doesn't work if you want to furnish your flat all at once (and can depend on the area), but we have picked up lots of our furniture in our road and the surrounding streets. Only yesterday my daughter picked up an office chair.

British heart foundation charity shops sell furniture and appliances, and they used to deliver, so worth checking your local one

Look at the Reyooz website. Mostly office furniture (incredibly cheap as 2nd hand) but some sofas, tables other stuff. Some designer items too.

Local Facebook group - say you are moving in locally and list what you need, you will be surprised how much spare stuff people have that they want to get rid of

If there are boot sales in your area, they are great for smaller items, like bedside tables and kitchen items. I also found that letting everyone know that I was open to using second hand stuff meant that I was often offered things .
If you can, take your time. If you've got a bed, you'll be fine.
