How can I tighten the water inlet hose to my washing machine?

There is water dripping out of the inlet hose and I can’t seem to tighten it any further. I used a wrench and broke one of the nobbles. Any recommendations on what else I can use?

It shouldnt be that difficult. Chances are you have threaded it incorrectly or a seal is not sitting flat..

If it was me i would be purchasing a new hose and remove the old one. Refit the new one and honestly, it shouldnt take more than a strong hand tighten to be water tight as long as any seals are inplace.

Before you do anything, there should be a cut off tap on the supply to the hose. Make sure you turn it to stop the water before messing about with the hose.

Agree with pp the plastic ones should only need hand tightening.
It's either cross threaded or needs a new rubber washer.

Alrighty, I’ll try a new hose.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I've fitted a new hose and started a fresh load of washing.

So far, so dry.

@Tessasanderson

If it was me i would be purchasing a new hose

I misread that as "new house" and thought it was a bit extreme Grin

Anyway @LostMyUserName it sounds like you over tightened the old one and damaged it. Fingers crossed the new one works.

Sometimes the little rubber bit perishes, especially in hard water.

I do live in a hard water area @Threadkillacilla so the rubber could have perished. Hopefully it’s sorted now.

A new house is slightly extreme @FrankTheThunderbird but after the grief I’ve had with appliances, I sometimes think it might be worth it!
